Service

The GMAA gives its members the possibility of researching legal questions in well-stocked specialised libraries free of charge. If, as an arbitrator, you do not have easy access to reference materials, you are welcome to visit the libraries of a number of law firms in order to look up topics relating to arbitration law and shipping law. The secretariat of the GMAA coordinates your free access to the respective library. Taking books out of the library is not possible; however, you can make a limited quantity of copies and take these with you or, alternatively, you can request a certain section of a work to be scanned and e-mailed to you. In order to prevent any problems, you should avoid visiting the libraries of any law firms which are involved in the arbitration proceedings where you are acting as arbitrator. The specialised libraries of the following law firms are available for your use following pre-registration with the GMAA secretariat:

  • Ahlers & Vogel, Hamburg
  • Blaum Dettmers Rabstein, Bremen
  • CMS Hasche Sigle, Hamburg
  • Dabelstein & Passehl, Hamburg
  • Dr. Schackow und Partner, Bremen
  • Taylor Wessing, Hamburg

If you are interested in using this possibility, please send an e-mail stating the desired time and date of your library visit to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
